Treasurer Joe Hockey says he wasn't the cabinet leaker because he did not attend the meeting.

Media reports suggest there was a rift within federal cabinet last week over a move to strip terror suspects of their Australian citizenship, but the source of the leak has not been identified.

"Here's a bit of a confession - I wasn't at the meeting," Mr Hockey told 2GB radio on Friday.
