Hockey remains bullish on China outlook

Treasurer Joe Hockey remains upbeat about China, Australia's number one trading partner.

China's economic growth may have slowed to seven per cent, but Joe Hockey remains optimistic about the Asian giant's outlook.

As the treasurer grapples with a falling iron ore price ahead of his second budget, he still sees positive signs in China and elsewhere in the region that will demand Australia's resources, agricultural produce and services.

"I am more bullish about the Chinese economy than a number of others," he told CNBC television on Thursday, adding that a seven per cent growth figure off a much larger base than existed a few years ago meant that it was a very strong number by global standards.
