Hockeyroos beat Belgium in World League

The Hockeyroos have beaten Belgium 1-0 in a women's World League tournament in Brussels.

The Hockeyroos have taken another step towards the women's World League finals by beating hosts Belgium 1-0 to remain undefeated at the semi-finals tournament.

Georgie Morgan's flick from a penalty corner in the 12th minute proved decisive on Thursday.

It was the 24-year-old's second goal in Brussels, with all of Australia's goals for the tournament coming from penalty corners after the previous day's 3-0 win over Malaysia.

Belgium, ranked 14 in the world, had their best chance to equalise in the final minute but their shot from a penalty corner went wide.

Australian coach Paul Gaudoin lauded his side's improvement having described their performance against Malaysia as below their best.

"But we still have to have a better understanding of the stage of the game and how to play in those situations," Gaudoin said.

"We'll do a fair bit of work on that in the next 48 hours."

Australia next play New Zealand, who sit a place behind in the world rankings in fifth, before the final group-stage match against Spain.
