Arch rivals New Zealand stand between the Hockeyroos and an unbeaten lead-up to the World League Finals playoffs in Tucumn, Argentina.
Australia have the chance to finish above world champions Argentina and top Pool B ahead of this week's sudden-death quarter-finals with victory over their trans-Tasman foes in their final round-robin clash on Wednesday (AEDT).
The Hockeyroos have emerged as the tournament surprise packets by backing up their impressive 1-1 opening draw with Argentina by thrashing world No.7 China 5-1 on Monday (AEDT).
World No.5 Australia have the edge over their Kiwi opponents after claiming last month's Oceania Cup final in a penalty shootout.
"Games against New Zealand are always really difficult," Hockeyroos coach Adam Commens said of the world No.4 Kiwis.
"We both know each other very well but we will be looking to implement our plan against them."
Australia warmed up for their grudge match against New Zealand by blowing away China from the outset.
First-half goals from Claire Messent and Kellie White had China reeling before a brace of close-range second-half tap-ins from Emily Smith and Jodie Schulz's late penalty corner sealed the crushing win.
"We could even have scored more but, overall, I'm pleased," Commens said.
The tournament features the world's top eight teams in two pools.
