Australia's Todd Hodgetts has snatched a bronze medal with his last throw in the F20 shot put for athletes with intellectual disabilities at the IPC athletics world championships in Lyon.
Early on day three of competition at Rhone Stadium, the Tasmanian logged 15.17m on his sixth and final attempt to grab the last place on the podium.
Malaysia's Muhammad Zolkefli won gold with a throw of 15.32m to edge out Sweden's Jeffrey Ige by only four centimetres.
Even though Hodgetts is the reigning London Paralympics champion and current world record holder (16.29m), the 25-year-old endured a long recovery from elbow surgery just to compete in France.
"That was awesome, I came back at the end with a big throw and to be honest thought it was all going to go bad," Hodgetts said.
"I thought I had won with the last throw but it wasn't meant to be.
"When I was celebrating my big last one I accidentally punched the measuring equipment and that got me in a bit of trouble."
Queensland's Lindsay Sutton finished ninth with a best mark of 12.28m.
