Hoffenheim held by late Wolfsburg strike

Hoffenheim were pegged 1-1 by a stoppage-time Wolfsburg goal - one of three draws in Sunday's Bundesliga's fixtures.

Hoffenheim were pegged 1-1 by a stoppage-time Wolfsburg goal while Cologne and Werder Bremen stayed winless in the Bundesliga after a goalless draw on Sunday.

Former Wolfsburg player Kerem Demirbay made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute to put visiting Hoffenheim ahead.

But Wolfsburg defender Felix Uduokhai headed in a corner for his first goal for his side to make it five draws in as many games for the Wolves under new coach Martin Schmidt

Despite the draw Hoffenheim move back to fourth, level on 16 points with Schalke, but are now four behind leaders Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and three adrift of third-placed RB Leipzig.

Wolfsburg's Maximilian Arnold had an 11th-minute penalty saved by the leg of keeper Oliver Baumann before the home side secured the late point which moves them to nine points, still fifth from bottom.

Bottom side Cologne picked up only their second point after nine matches, while visiting Bremen stay second-last with five after a fourth straight game without scoring.

Cologne came close to the three points with chances in a frantic closing phase, including a glaring miss by Sehrou Guirassy, who could not steer the ball over the line in front of an open goal with three minutes remaining.

The French striker then had a shot saved by Jiri Pevlenka, while Bremen went close when Thomas Delaney's header was kicked off the line by Konstantin Rausch and Ludwig Augustinsson fired wide across goal.

Freiburg and Mathew Leckie's Hertha Berlin meanwhile finished 1-1 after Salomon Kalou missed and scored a penalty for Hertha.

Janik Haberer scored from the penalty spot seven minutes into the second half for Freiburg after Niklas Stark brought down Christian Guenter, the penalty confirmed by video review.

Hertha were given a penalty when Julian Schuster used his arm to block Arne Maier, but Kalou sent the 77th-minute spot kick over the bar.

The Ivory Coast striker made amends four minutes later by converting from the spot following a foul by Nicolas Hoefler on Davie Selke.

Hertha are 11th in the table on 10 points, while Freiburg are fourth-last on eight.
