Ryan Hoffman admits he can't help but imagine a dream premiership farewell to his 12 NRL seasons with Melbourne.
The Australia and NSW back-rower is chasing a fourth grand final win with the Storm before he makes his big-money move to Auckland to join the Warriors ahead of the 2015 season.
"Everyone wants a fairytale ... fairytales don't happen all the time," said Hoffman.
"I just want this team to achieve its potential, we are building towards it and all I can concentrate on is how I am going to help that.
"I have X amount of games left in the Storm jersey and I want to add to the great memories I already have from my time in the Storm jumper.
"It (an end to his Storm career) is creeping up on me, but I am trying not to dwell on it.
"This is a placed I have loved for over 12 years."
Hoffman scored a try in the Storm's 2012 grand final win over Canterbury and was a part of the side's title wins in 2007 and 2009 that were stripped due to salary breaches. He also played in their loss to Brisbane in the 2006 decider.
He credits playing alongside the likes of Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater under coach Craig Bellamy with helping him to become the player he is.
"It has been great playing with them not just because they are great players but because they are my really good mates," he said.
"We are debuted within 12 months of each other, we all started under Craig and we have all gone through a hell of a lot of highs and hell of a lot of lows together in that 12 years.
"I have been blessed to come to a club that wants to work hard and to have played with a coach and players that have helped me reach my potential."
