Melbourne's AFL luck might finally be turning.
Their much-hyped youngster Jesse Hogan was cleared of serious injury on Tuesday after an opponent stood on his foot.
The 20-year-old was injured late in Thursday's NAB Challenge loss to Fremantle and missed Monday's training session.
Hogan might miss this Saturday's pre-season game against the Western Bulldogs in Ballarat, but scans have shown no major damage.
"He had scans this morning, which cleared him of any significant injury and he will be assessed to be available to play this week," their football manager Josh Mahoney told the AFL website.
Back problems restricted the key forward to only one pre-season game and a VFL match last year and he is yet to make his senior debut.
But he is a key part of Melbourne's long-term plans.
Melbourne's run of bad luck continued last month when No.2 draft pick Christian Petracca needed a knee reconstruction, ending his debut season before it even started.
Former captain Jackson Trengove also remains sidelined indefinitely as he recovers from a serious foot injury.
