Hollande's ratings soar after attacks

French President Francois Hollande's approval ratings have leapt by a record 21 percentage points to 40 per cent in the wake of the Paris attacks.

President Francois Hollande's approval ratings, scraping historic lows just weeks ago, have soared in the aftermath of deadly Islamist attacks in Paris.

Hollande's ratings have leapt by a record 21 percentage points to 40 per cent, according to an opinion poll published on Monday.

Prime Minister Manuel Valls also saw his popularity jump 17 per centage points to 61 per cent - higher than when he first took office.

The attacks by three Islamists in and around Paris nearly two weeks ago left 17 people dead, shocked the country and sparked an outpouring of international support.
