Struggling German side Hamburg have appointed their former player Bernd Hollerbach as coach, a day after the sacking of Markus Gisdol.
Hollerbach, 48, is tasked with preventing a first-ever relegation from the Bundesliga for the former European champions, who are second from bottom.
He has agreed a contract until 2019, the club said.
Hamburg won the first two games of the season but have added only two more victories, and nine points overall, from the following 17.
Gisdol's fate was sealed on Saturday with a 2-0 home defeat to basement side Cologne, who are now three points behind Hamburg.
