Holly Clyburn takes lead at NSW Open

Nikki Garrett and Breanna Elliott shot the rounds of the day at Oatlands, but they are both still behind England's Holly Clybrun at the NSW Open.

England's Holly Clyburn will carry a one-shot lead into the final round of the NSW Women's Open at Sydney's Oatlands Golf Club.

Clyburn shot a six-under 66 to vault into the lead, but the Brit will be pursued by a host of chasers with Australian Breanna Elliott just one shot back at minus eight ahead of a group of three at seven-under the card.

That group has Australia's Nikki Garrett (65), Swiss player Fabienne In-Albon (68) and defending champion, France's Joanna Klatten (68) in it.

The main highlight of Clyburn's round was her five-straight birdies on the front nine.

The Englishwoman reeling them off on holes three to seven, and the round could have been even better if not for back-to-back bogeys on par-four holes 10 and 11.

"I got off to a nice start, I had five back-to-back birdies," Clyburn said before remembering the last time she achieved the feat.

"Couple of years ago, I remember when I was 15 playing in an English strokeplay event and I had a bit of a birdie blitz, and my mum surprised me with new golf shoes with 'birdie blitz'."

For Elliott her score was a day late,

"Yeah, I am really happy, I thought it could have happened yesterday but I couldn't get the putter going, then today it was really consistent and I didn't get into too much trouble".

Sharing sixth place at six-under-par and still well within range is first round leader Rebecca Artis and Sydney player, Sarah Kemp.
