One of the most famous landmarks in the United States has temporarily closed to the public.
Authorities have blocked access to the massive Hollywood sign perched in the hills above the US movie capital so workers can install a gate to keep out nocturnal visitors, the Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday.
The closure is due to last five weeks.
There are safety concerns over night time visitors to the world-famous landmark, Los Angeles City Councilman Tom LaBonge told the paper.
The lettering was erected in 1923 as a publicity stunt for sales of land in the then-uninhabited Hollywood hills.
