Holman gets Socceroos recall

Ben Halloran will miss Australia's friendly with Ecuador next week with Socceroos veteran Brett Holman given a recall.

Socceroos veteran Brett Holman has been recalled to the national side for Thursday's (AEDT) friendly against Ecuador in London.

Holman replaces Ben Halloran, who has been ruled out with a hip injury.

Halloran had scans this week and following discussions between Australia's medical staff and his club (Fortuna Dusseldorf) it was decided the 21-year-old would remain in Germany to continue treatment.

"Ben was under a cloud and we received some further information about his injury, which showed it was in Ben's best interest that he was ruled out of the game," said Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou.

"It's a shame for Ben because he deserved the opportunity to make an impression at the camp and we will continue to watch him in the lead-up to the World Cup.

"We have brought in Brett Holman and I look forward to having Brett in the camp and for the Ecuador game.

"He has proven himself on the international stage and it will be good to get Brett into the group so he can get a feel for what we are trying to achieve."

Updated 23-man Socceroos squad to face Ecuador: Oliver Bozanic, Tim Cahill, Jason Davidson, Ivan Franjic, Curtis Good, Brett Holman, Chris Herd, James Holland, Mile Jedinak, Brad Jones, Mitchell Langerak, Matthew Leckie, Massimo Luongo, Ryan McGowan, Matthew McKay, Mark Milligan, Tommy Oar, Tommy Rogic, Matt Ryan, Adam Sarota, Matthew Spiranovic, Dario Vidosic, Luke Wilkshire.
