Home auction volumes fall

Home auction volumes dropped during the week to September 3, while the clearance rate lifted.

The number of homes going under the hammer has fallen across the nation over the past week, while housing prices have hardly moved.

Just over 2,000 auctions were held in the week to September 3, down from 2,270 in the prior week, preliminary figures from property data group Corelogic show.

The preliminary auction clearance rate nationally reached 70 per cent, up from 68.3 per cent the week before, although Corelogic said the final figure would likely be back in the high 60 per cent range.

Home values for the week edged slightly higher in Sydney and Melbourne, while they were flat in Brisbane and Adelaide and lower in Perth.
