Home invasion victims bound, beaten: court

A man accused of murdering Sydney truck driver Keith Cini and assaulting his wife Luci was allegedly armed with a pick handle during the attack.

A man charged over two violent home invasions, including one that left Sydney truck driver Keith Cini dead, allegedly bound some of his victims and beat them with bats and poles.

Thomas Richard Baumer, 23, and a second man, 26, were arrested in the western Sydney suburbs of Kemps Creek and Orchard Hills on Tuesday following a five-month investigation into the murder of Mr Cini.

The 69-year-old was bludgeoned to death inside his Badgerys Creek home in April. His wife Lucina Boldi was also attacked but survived.

It is alleged Baumer and his co-accused also stole from the house, from where Mr Cini ran his trucking company.

Baumer fronted Liverpool Local Court via video link on Wednesday charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated break, enter and steal.

He did not apply for bail and his case was adjourned to Campbelltown Local Court in December.

Court documents allege he and his co-accused were armed with a pick handle when they burst into Mr Cini's home in May.

Baumer has also been charged over a home invasion in the NSW Southern Highlands on April 28, with police alleging he and another person assaulted and robbed Medway resident Brett Delamont with an axe handle.

According to court documents, Baumer is unemployed, estranged from his family and has an ice habit.

Police allege some of his victims in both the Badgerys Creek and Southern Highlands incidents were bound and beaten with weapons, including bats and poles.

They also say Baumer is known to the victims and they therefore need the strongest protection available, something which could not be provided if he is granted bail.

Social media photos show Baumer, from Cobbitty in Sydney's southwest, spent time driving trucks.

His co-accused in the Badgerys Creek attack is due to face Port Kembla Court on Wednesday.

Their arrests came days after detectives released photos of two men wanted for questioning over Mr Cini's death.

Baumer's co-accused Ryan David Evans did not apply for bail in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old is charged with four offences, including murder and attempted murder.

His case was adjourned to Campbelltown Local Court on October 29.
