Protest leaders in Hong Kong say they've agreed to talks with the government of the Chinese region, as their numbers dwindle and they face growing pressure to end their sit in.
The mass rallies that drew tens of thousands evaporated on Sunday night in the face of a warning from Hong Kong's Chief Executive Leung Chun Ying to leave the streets and allow government offices to re open.
Many heeded the call, but several hundred weary demonstrators remain at the main site in downtown Admiralty, with similar numbers across the harbour in Mongkok.
One those protesters is Joseph Cheung, a professor of political science at City University of Hong Kong and convenor of the so-called Alliance For True Democracy.
He told Biwa Kwan pro-democracy supporters are hoping for concrete outcomes from the talks.
