Hong Kong shares end flat

Hong Kong shares have ended flat as fears about the crisis in Iraq offset a positive lead from Wall Street.

Hong Kong shares have ended flat as a positive lead from Wall Street was offset by fears about the growing crisis in Iraq.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index dipped 18.50 points to 23,300.67 on Monday on turnover of $HK47.83 billion ($US6.17 billion).

In China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index jumped 0.74 per cent, or 15.26 points, to 2085.98 on turnover of 80.0 billion yuan ($US12.9 billion).

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.66 per cent, or 7.17 points, to 1086.53 on turnover of 114.4 billion yuan.
