Hong Kong stocks end 0.34% higher

The Hang Seng Index added 76.8 points to end at 22,664.52, while the Shanghai Composite Index added 1.11 per cent, or 23.48 points, to 2,142.55.

Hong Kong shares rose 0.34 per cent, reversing earlier losses, as investors await US housing data after a broadly positive lead from Wall Street.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 76.8 points to end at 22,664.52 on turnover of HK$60.06 billion ($A8.59 billion).

Chinese shares also closed up.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index added 1.11 per cent, or 23.48 points, to 2,142.55 on turnover of 127.8 billion yuan ($A23.31 billion).

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 0.14 per cent, or 1.58 points, to 1,157.20 on turnover of 174.5 billion yuan.
