Western Australia coach Justin Langer heaped praise on Michael Klinger and skipper Adam Voges after the pair's 93-run partnership helped guide the visitors to 2-169 in their Sheffield Shield match against South Australia.
Klinger ended day two at Gliderol Stadium on 48 with Voges 54 not out, the experienced pair steadying the ship for the Warriors following the dismissals of openers Marcus Harris (47) and Cameron Bancroft (18).
The Warriors now trail the Redbacks by 300 runs after removing the home side for 469 just after lunch.
"I thought we had been very poor for the first four sessions of this game so we had to fight back," Langer said.
"Once again the two senior pros have done a good job for us."
Langer also applauded the efforts of Ashton Agar who took 5-133 from his 39 overs in the first innings.
"He bowled a lot of overs and it was nice for him to get a five-for," Langer said.
"It's like getting a hundred - it doesn't matter how you get it, a hundred is a hundred so five wickets he'll be pleased with that.
"He's becoming a good story for us."
Earlier in the day, WA were cruising before spinner Adam Zampa trapped Bancroft LBW for 18. Harris smashed five boundaries and two sixes on his way to 47 before he was caught by Alex Ross off another Zampa delivery.
Zampa is SA's best with the ball with 2-45 from 17 overs while Daniel Worrall has 0-32 from 16 overs.
SA had dominated the morning session, adding 151 runs to their overnight total with Trent Lawford playing a starring role with a knock of 81 from 109 balls.
Lawford smacked three boundaries and five sixes, including three in a row off a Tom Beaton over.
Zampa also chipped in with a handy 55 runs while Tim Ludeman made 26.
Tom Cooper top scored for SA with 83 with Mark Cosgrove (74) and Kelvin Smith (56) giving the Redbacks a 112-run opening partnership on day one.
