Hooper runaway winner of Tahs' rugby award

Waratahs captain Michael Hooper is the runaway winner of his Super Rugby team's players' player award, taking it out for the fifth successive year.

NSW Waratahs captain Michael Hooper has won his team's Super Rugby players' player award for the fifth year in a row.

Hooper claimed the Matthew Burke Cup again after being the stand-out in the Waratahs' Super Rugby campaign.

The flanker, who also captains the Wallabies, polled 340 votes - 152 ahead of second-placed Israel Folau.

No NSW player had previously won the award, named after former NSW and Wallabies fullback Burke, four times let alone five.

The players' player award is decided by tallying the 3-2-1 votes of the match-day squad after every Super Rugby match.

Hooper also won the best forward award while Folau was voted best back.

Hunters Hill rugby club was named the NSW Club of the Year while Taylor Adams from West Harbour won the Ken Catchpole Medal.
