All options are on the table for Jeff Horn, including a move to a different weight division, with the vanquished champion promising to "rebuild" his career after tasting defeat for the first time as a professional.
But Horn's promoter, Dean Lonergan, has poured cold water on the prospect of a meeting with veteran Anthony Mundine, rattling off other potential candidates for Horn's next fight, including Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas.
Horn's immediate priority after losing his WBO welterweight title to Terence Crawford will be a family holiday in Canada.
However, the 30-year-old will be back in the ring by the end of the year, according to Lonergan.
The question is with who.
A clash with Mundine has long been talked about and it could shape as a solid rebound for Horn.
Mundine, 43, might be well past his prime but he remains a publicity magnet and the fight could net both fighters a reasonable sum.
"For me personally, I'd like to see him fight another big-name American," Duco Events chief executive Lonergan said.
"I'm not a big fan of the Mundine fight, to be bluntly honest.
"But he's a great talker in the media ... he worked out a long, long time ago that being the bad guy probably makes more money than being the good guy.
"I'm not that keen on the fight but we'll wait and see. I'm only one voice of three."
Horn's trainer, Glenn Rushton, said he would be open to a rematch with Manny Pacquiao provided the Filipino great beats Lucas Matthysse next month for the WBA welterweight title.
Horn and Rushton were also keen to face Crawford again, in Australia if possible.
"If we get that opportunity, I'm very confident we could turn the tables," Rushton said.
Lonergan then asked the reporters at the news conference to raise their hands if they thought a rematch was a good idea for Horn. Nobody did.
Rushton said it was "very possible" Horn could also move up to the 69.85kg light middleweight division, which makes sense considering his naturally bigger frame and recent struggles to make weight.
"We'll look for where the big fights are and certainly we'll take them in either of those divisions," he said.
