Hornets waive Mathiang's two-way NBA deal

Australia's NBA contingent has shrunk to single digits after the Charlotte Hornets cut two-way player Mangok Mathiang.

The Charlotte Hornets have released 208cm forward Mangok Mathiang, cutting the number of Australian NBA players to nine.

Charlotte waived the 25-year-old Australian after playing four games with the Hornets since signing a two-way contract in August last year, the eastern conference franchise announced on Thursday.

Aron Baynes (Boston), Patty Mills (San Antonio), Ryan Broekhoff (Dallas), Ben Simmons and Jonah Bolden (Philadelphia), Matthew Dellavedova and Thon Maker (Milwaukee) and Joe Ingles and Dante Exum (Utah) are the nine Aussies with guaranteed NBA deals for 2018-19.
