At least 10 Afghan civilians have been killed and 39 injured in a suicide bombing outside a hotel in southwestern Afghanistan.
Matiuallah Khan, the police chief of Oruzgan province, could not say who or what the target was in the attack in Tirinkot, Oruzgan's capital.
Most of the people in front of the hotel when the suicide bomber blew himself up were civilians, he said.
Earlier on Tuesday, three Afghan students were killed by a bomb hidden in a motorcycle in front of their school in southern Afghanistan.
Three students were wounded in the bombing in the Marjah district, said Omar Zwak, spokesman for the governor of Helmand province.
He said the victims were 20 to 21 years old.
No group had claimed responsibility for either incident, but the Afghan Taliban have launched a spate of deadly attacks in recent months, unlike previous winters when the Taliban insurgency saw a lull because of the cold.
The Taliban movement has said it will continue fighting throughout the winter, mainly because of the planned Afghan presidential elections slated for April 5.
On Sunday, a pre-dawn Taliban assault involving hundreds of fighters overran an Afghan army outpost in a remote corner of eastern Afghanistan, killing 21 soldiers, making it one of the deadliest attacks on the military in recent months.
