Treasurer Scott Morrison says Labor is engaged in "class envy" by seeking to tighten negative gearing and capital gains tax concessions.

Mr Morrison visited a police station in Queanbeyan on Wednesday to talk up the impact of Labor's policy decision on workers such as police officers who negatively gear property.

"The Labor Party likes to tell you that negative gearing is something for the highfalutin ... . the truth is more than 13,000 serving Australian police officers negatively gear," he told reporters.
