Wasps' Nathan Hughes has been hit with a three-week ban after being found guilty of striking Welsh rugby star George North in an English Premiership clash with Northampton.
British and Irish Lions winger North was carried off on a stretcher last weekend after the collision for which Hughes was sent off - although both player and team denied the charge.
The RFU have confirmed Hughes will miss three weeks following a hearing on Tuesday evening.
North scored two tries for Northampton in a 52-30 Premiership win over the London-based Wasps, but he was knocked out when he was caught on the head by the knee of Hughes after scoring the second of his five-pointers.
The 22-year-old North also suffered a concussion in Wales' opening Six Nations match in February when he was knocked out twice.
North will miss this weekend's European Cup match against French side Clermont and will be assessed by a neurosurgeon in the coming days before a decision is made on when he can return to rugby.
