Hull FC have beaten Wigan Warriors 18-14 in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley to retain the trophy they won last year.
In front of a crowd of 68,525 both sides scored three tries but Wigan, hoping to extend their record 19 wins in the competition, failed to convert two of theirs.
Former Melbourne winger Mahe Fonua scored two of Hull's tries.
They recovered from 6-0 down to lead 18-10 early in the second half but ended up hanging on after Wigan's Joe Burgess scored his team's third try and was denied another in the last minute by a forward pass.
Hull coach Lee Radford was full of praise for the way his team dug in.
"It sounds good, it sounds like music to the ears," Radford told the BBC.
"It was a fantastic effort. I said at halftime these boys do not give in and it will go to the 80th minute. That's instilled in them from the coach (Shaun Wane) downwards and they did not disappoint.
"We had to fight for everything today. We went into our shell in the final 10 minutes, they put me on the edge of my seat, but it was a special effort, special supporters and a special club."
Marc Sneyd of Hull received the Lance Todd Trophy as man of the match for the second year in a row.
"Marc is probably the most criticised half-back the club have ever had," Radford said.
"To win two Lance Todd trophies is a phenomenal effort from a phenomenal player. He has it (the ball) on a string."
