The Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) will join with the Nomads bikie gang to challenge NSW laws preventing bikie members from gathering and meeting together.
National president of the Nomads Bikie gang, Simon Tajjour, told The Daily Telegraph he will challenge the laws in the High Court next Tuesday, while leading barrister Bret Walker, SC, has put forward a written submission on behalf of the AHRC seeking leave to appear with the bikies.
The Commission argues the laws could contravene the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Mr Tajjour, 34, who served four years for the manslaughter of Robin Nassour in 2006, was one of the first people arrested under the laws.
He said his case is about "everyone's rights" and that he should not be arrested for talking to someone else with a record.
Mr Tajjour is cousin of Kings Cross promoter John Ibrahim and his former bikie boss brother Sam.
Attorneys-General from four other states have made submissions supporting the NSW laws, introduced in 2012.
