Authorities are continuing their desperate search for the mother of a baby girl whose body was found buried in a shallow beach grave in Sydney.
Two boys, aged six and seven, playing in the sand dunes at South Maroubra beach found the decomposing infant body on Sunday morning.
The baby underwent a post-mortem on Monday, revealing it was a girl.
However there has been no information released on the baby's age or how long it had been buried beneath 30cm of sand.
Police are scouring hospital records, talking to local mother support groups and going through births, deaths and marriages, in hope of finding the girl's mother.
The shocking discovery came a week after cyclists found a baby at the bottom of a stormwater drain in Quakers Hill.
The mother has been charged with attempted murder and accused of dumping the baby down the drain after giving birth.
The two cases have sparked debate around the need for baby hatches - or baby safe havens - in Australia.
