Police fear a man who indecently assaulted two women in Sydney's west might be responsible for two other attacks in the past three weeks.

Officers were initially hunting a man in his 50s over two incidents at Rydalmere on Sunday morning, but have widened their net after two more local women reported similar assaults.

A 17-year-old girl was grabbed by the man and indecently assaulted after he attempted to speak to her in Primrose Avenue about 10.30am on Sunday.

Earlier, 74-year-old woman told police she was indecently assaulted by a man matching his description in the same street.

On Monday night, police said two more women had come forward with similar stories.

On May 29, a 16-year-old girl was assaulted after a man approached her on Primrose Avenue, and a 56-year-old woman was approached, greeted by the man and assaulted on May 12.

Inspector Glen Parks said police were concerned the offender might live in the area and appealed to locals to help.

"The person could live in the area and we are seeking people who live in the area to contact us," he said on Monday.

Insp Parks said it was very concerning the man had attacked two women in one day and there might be other victims in the area.

The man is described as of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, with a thin build, a black beard and is believed to be aged in his 50s or 60s.

He was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and light brown pants.
