Hurn, Kennedy set to miss Bulldogs clash

West Coast are set to be without Josh Kennedy, Shannon Hurn and Will Schofield for Saturday's clash with the Western Bulldogs.

West Coast forward Josh Kennedy will miss a fourth successive match with a calf injury, while skipper Shannon Hurn is almost certain to be ruled out of Saturday's crunch AFL clash with the Western Bulldogs.

And Eagles coach Adam Simpson says the club will consider challenging Will Schofield's controversial one-match ban for striking.

Kennedy hasn't played since tearing his calf in the round 10 loss to GWS.

The two-time Coleman medallist is expected to resume full training later this week, but Simpson said it was too risky to rush him back for the Bulldogs game

"He won't play this week," Simpson told Perth radio station 6PR.

"It's taken us a lot longer than we thought.

"There haven't been any hiccups. It's just been one of those calves that are connected to the achilles. We've been pretty cautious.

"Normally JK would knock on the door and tell us he's right to go. He just hasn't done that until (Monday), which tells us he's a week away.

"We'll get him back next week."

Hurn was knocked unconscious in a collision with Melbourne's Jack Viney late in last week's three-point loss to the Demons.

Simpson hinted Hurn would likely be given a week off to fully recover from the hit.

But the Eagles haven't totally given up hope of having Schofield available for the Etihad Stadium showdown.

Schofield can accept a one-match ban for his glancing elbow to the face of Clayton Oliver.

If the Eagles unsuccessfully challenge the ban, Schofield will be ruled out for two matches.

Oliver copped heavy criticism on social media for his reaction to the Schofield hit.

The young Melbourne midfielder crumpled to the floor after receiving the glancing blow, with many people questioning whether contact was even made.

"I just hope Clayton's OK. I hope he made the flight back," Simpson said tongue in cheek.

"We're going to look at (challenging) it.

"We've just got to weigh-up whether it's worth taking on or not.

"I'm a bit surprised about it all but we'll work through it and make a decision in the morning."

The Eagles have slipped to seventh spot following four losses from their past five games, while the Bulldogs are in ninth spot, also with a 7-6 record.
