Hurricanes down Knights at T20 in India

A 100-run partnership between Aiden Blizzard and Shoaib Malik has secured an emphatic Champions T20 win for the Hobart over the Northern Knights.

A 100-run partnership between Aiden Blizzard and Shoaib Malik has helped the Hobart Hurricanes trounce the Northern Knights by 86 runs at the T20 Champions League in India.

The Hurricanes set the New Zealand outfit a target of 3-178 before the Knights were bowled out for 92 from 16.4 overs at the Chhattisgarh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.

The win took the Hurricanes to the top of Group B and put them in good stead to qualify for the semi-finals.

Blizzard (62 off 43) and Malik (45 off 22) combined for a 100-run stand off 51 balls which delivered the Tasmanian side the momentum.

Blizzard said he was able find his rhythm after initially struggling in tricky conditions.

"It was quite tough out there early," he said.

"(But) I knew if I hung in there and knowing Shoaib was coming in, I thought we could probably get the game rolling."

Ben Hilfenhaus (3-14) destroyed the Knights' top order, dismissing Kane Williamson (3), Daniel Flynn (0) and BJ Watling (9) cheaply as the Kiwi outfit's run chase never really got off the ground.

Doug Bollinger finished off the tail to finish with 3-22 off 2.4 overs.

The result means Hobart sit at the top of Group B on eight points from three games, ahead of Kings XI Punjab on net run rate, however the Indian franchise have a game in hand.

The Knights are in third with four points from two matches.

The Hurricanes play their final group match against Barbados Tridents on Sunday in Mohali.
