Hurricanes finalise 17-man squad

The Hobart Hurricanes squad headlined by Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara has been finalised ahead of the Big Bash League season.

Joe Mennie and Dom Michael will complete the Hobart Hurricanes' player roster for the Big Bash League season, with former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara headlining the list.

The Hurricanes on Thursday named their final squad of 17 ahead of their first match on December 20.

Mennie said the signings of Sangakkara and West Indies bowler Darren Sammy made for an exciting season.

"He's an absolutely gun of a player, " Mennie said of the Sri Lankan.

"Plus having Darren Sammy back is a huge boost for us."

The team's first clash is against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG.

Tasmanian squad: Tim Paine, Ben Dunk, Cameron Boyce, Jake Reed, Shaun Tait, Darren Sammy, Kumar Sangakkara, Dan Christian, Simon Milenko, George Bailey, Sam Rainbird, Timm van der Gugten, Clive Rose, Jon Wells, Michael Hill, Joe Mennie, Dom Michael.
