Hurricanes reshuffled for Cheetahs clash

Beauden Barrett will start at fullback for the Hurricanes in a reshuffled line-up to face the Cheetahs this weekend.

Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd has reshuffled his team for Saturday's Super Rugby match against the Cheetahs in Wellington.

Beauden Barrett will start at fullback and Otere Black at five-eighth after Boyd made four personnel changes to the team beaten 20-12 by the Crusaders last week.

Black will make his second start of the season at No.10, Wes Goosen replaces Cory Jane on the right wing, and Ben May returns at loosehead prop for Chris Eves.

While Black started at first five-eighth in the season opener against the Sunwolves in Tokyo, Barrett has worn the No.10 jersey in the last nine matches.

Barrett's move back to fullback allows younger brother Jordie to have a well-earned spell on the bench in his first season of Super Rugby.

Jordie Barrett has appeared in every match in 2017 and started the past seven.

Lock Sam Lousi is set to make his starting debut in the second row and will partner fellow Tongan Vaea Fifita, with Mark Abbott taking a break on the bench after starting the past eight matches.

With a tough tour to South Africa and Perth looming, Boyd said it was important to manage some of his players' workloads.

"We have some guys who have shouldered a particularly big load through the first 10 matches and other guys who, through injury, have not had a lot of time." Boyd said the changes were not an indication of taking the Cheetahs lightly.

Hurricanes: Beauden Barrett, Wes Goosen, Vince Aso, Ngani Laumape, Julian Savea, Otere Black, TJ Perenara (captain), Brad Shields, Ardie Savea, Reed Prinsep, Vaea Fifita, Sam Lousi, Jeff To'omaga-Allen, Ricky Riccitelli, Ben May. Reserves: Leni Apisai, Mike Kainga, Loni Uhila, Mark Abbott, Callum Gibbins, Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi, Jordie Barrett, Ben Lam.
