Hussey recalled by Vics for Shield clash

Just a week after being dumped from Victoria's Sheffield Shield team, veteran batsman David Hussey has earned a recall for Friday's clash with WA.

Veteran batsman David Hussey has been recalled to the Victorian side for the Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia after last week's shock axing.

The 36-year-old was dumped for last week's fixture with Tasmania after registering scores of 44, seven and 13 in the Bushrangers' opening two Shield matches this year.

Hussey, brother of recently-retired star Michael, played the most recent of his 69 one-day internationals in January and possesses a first-class average of 51.71.

The 13-man squad includes captain Matthew Wade, although he will be unavailable unless he can have a one-match ban for a code of conduct breach overturned before the clash begins at the WACA Ground on Friday.

Destructive top-order batsman Aaron Finch has also been included after missing last round while playing for the invitational XI against England at the SCG.

Victoria will be without experienced opener Chris Rogers, who is on Test duty, while Scott Boland has been rested, prompting the inclusion of little-used 27-year-old quick Jake Haberfield.

Squad: Matthew Wade (capt), Fawad Ahmed, Dan Christian, Aaron Finch, Jake Haberfield, Peter Handscomb, John Hastings, Jon Holland, David Hussey, Clint McKay, Glenn Maxwell, Rob Quiney, Cameron White.
