Travis Cloke doesn't think he needs to reinvent himself as a player to provide value to the Western Bulldogs if he gets his wish for an AFL trade from Collingwood.
The Pies' four-time leading goal kicker was dropped three times this year by coach Nathan Buckley and managed just 13 games.
Elements of the 29-year-old's game had clearly been on the nose for Buckley, but Cloke doesn't believe he'll need to undergo a radical makeover to play a key role for Luke Beveridge.
"I don't think I need to reinvent myself," Cloke said.
"I've got strengths I need to work to ... obviously, my running is one of them and my marking.
"But there are some things I can improve in my game with a fresh start, a fresh challenge - I'm really looking forward to it."
Cloke dismissed suggestions he needed to drop some weight to play a wider-roaming role, adding his skinfold measurements were exactly where they needed to be this year.
With the AFL trade period starting on Monday, Cloke is hopeful his Whitten Oval move materialises early next week.
It is believed Collingwood won't demand much more than a late-round draft pick in return for the contracted forward.
So desperate is the 246-game veteran to start afresh that he will forego more than half the money he had been set to earn in the final year of his lucrative deal with the Pies.
"I'm really making this move for myself and my football," he said.
"I really want to enjoy myself. I'm going there to play some football.
"They've played in a premiership and that's super, but I'd made my decision to come to the Dogs before that.
"So it will be up to me to work my way into a premiership side."
Cloke believes Beveridge can get the best out of him and is hopeful he can help take some pressure off high-profile Dogs forward Tom Boyd.
"I've taken a bit of an interest in him over the last few years since he did make the move to the Dogs," Cloke said.
"It's been well publicised the pressure that he's been under.
"I guess a reason why I have chosen the Dogs is I'd love to work with him.
"Obviously, he's got so much potential and I'd love to help him out where I can."
