Swedish hunter Ralph Persson was walking in the woods with his wife and new hunting dog when suddenly a Scandinavian brown bear charged at him.
Incredibily, Mr Persson made the snap decision to stand his ground, throw his arms up and roar loudly.
“I screamed as much as I could and made myself very big,” Mr Persson told local media.
“I have seen in the past how even cranes have chased bears by folding up their wings," he said.
The bear veered off back into the woods, apparently surprised by Mr Persson's behaviour.
The Local reports there have been at least three bear attacks on humans in Sweden in the last 12 months, although none have been fatal.
