Aaron Woods has spoken of his ambitions to be NSW's State of Origin skipper, but the Wests Tigers captain is unsure if he is line to be an immediate successor to the retiring Paul Gallen.
Woods looms as a popular choice to take over from Gallen, both within the NSW set-up and with Blues fans.
The 25-year-old has played eight matches for the Blues and cemented his place in the NSW line-up for years to come on the back of his impressive efforts last year.
Alongside Cronulla captain Gallen and Penrith's Matt Moylan, Woods is the only other NRL club skipper in the NSW side for Origin I.
Woods has impressed in his leadership role at the Tigers, since taking over from Blues hooker Robbie Farah this season.
Woods said he would like to skipper NSW in the future.
"Obviously one day you want to do that, but I haven't looked that far forward, we have three games to worry about first before we look to next year," Woods said.
"(Blues coach) Laurie Daley will give me a job to do on Wednesday night and I have to go out and do that.
"That is all I am concentrating on at the moment."
The Dally M prop of the year, Woods said other players had also taken a senior leadership role at NSW's Coffs Harbour training camp.
"At the moment we have the likes of Gal, Birdy (Greg Bird), Robbie and even Duges (Josh Dugan) who are doing those senior leadership roles," he said.
