The NSW corruption watchdog has been ordered to pay the legal costs of senior lawyer Margaret Cunneen as she fights an investigation.
After battling it out in the NSW Supreme Court, ICAC took the deputy senior crown prosecutor to the High Court saying it had the power to investigate Ms Cunneen over allegations she perverted the course of justice.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption won its initial bid to investigate Ms Cunneen but then lost on appeal.
Ms Cunneen is accused of advising her son Stephen Wyllie's girlfriend Sophia Tilley to fake chest pains at a car crash scene to try to avoid police testing her blood-alcohol level.
Ms Cunneen, who describes the accusations as malicious, has argued ICAC was acting beyond its jurisdiction and there was no suggestion the allegations involved her conduct as a crown prosecutor.
The order for ICAC to pay Ms Cunneen's costs in NSW was made on Friday morning in the state's Supreme Court.
