Ice buckets out and cow manure in as bucket challenge takes bizarre turn

If watching people participating in the ice bucket challenge sent a shiver down your spine, this new challenge is likely to make you feel ill.

The latest bucket challenge where people empty stuff over their heads to raise awareness for a cause has sprung up in the Middle East where residents of Gaza and Israel have taken to dumping cow manure over their heads to express their frustration with the ongoing conflict.

One man took the challenge even further allowing a giant earth mover to dump liquid manure all over him. It came down like lava.

The Ice Bucket Challenge became an internet meme recently after celebrities began taking up the challenge where people film themselves dumping a bucket of ice over their heads then challenging someone else to follow suit.

The idea came from a charity trying to raise awareness and funding for research into amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) which is a motor neuron disease.

The Ice Bucket Challenge has been controversial though after opponents claimed it directed funding away form other diseases affecting a larger number of people.

It is also believed to have been a factor behind the death of a Scottish teenager who jumped into freezing cold water in a quarry last Saturday.

Police are investigating the death of 18-year-old Cameron Lancaster after he jumped feet first into a flooded quarry near the Scottish town of Inverkeithing.
