Ice with a street value of $50 million has been found hidden inside a shipment of toilets from China, in the second major seizure of the drug in Melbourne within a week.
Boxes containing the toilets were X-ray scanned at a Melbourne port facility on July 25, and revealed anomalies that prompted further inspection by customs officials.
They found 17 packages, totalling about 50kg, of methylamphetamine.
The boxes were tracked as they were moved to a suburban home, and a 33-year-old Kings Park man was arrested on Thursday.
Cash and casino chips valued at $73,000 were also seized in related raids on six properties.
It is the second major ice seizure in Melbourne this week after police found 135kg of the drug packed in suitcases in an inner-city apartment on Tuesday.
Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Stephen Fontana said while the seizures were unrelated, they reflected expanding multi-agency efforts to crack down on organised crime.
"There's always a syndicate behind it, particularly where you see products coming from other countries," Mr Fontana also told reporters in Melbourne on Friday.
"I'm sure they won't be happy about losing their product - that's profit that they have lost but they will probably be determined to keep moving on.
"We've got a glut of drugs out there, that's the reality ... but we're not going to give up on it."
The Melbourne operations followed major drug seizures in Queensland and Tasmania in recent days.
"In the past week alone law enforcement agencies have seized more than 220kg of illicit drugs and more than $2 million in cash," Australian Crime Commission national manager of investigations Richard Grant said.
"This is great news for the community as these drugs will not reach the streets and the money will not be sent offshore."
The Kings Park man has been charged with drug importation offences.
