I'll learn from Pandya's ODI blitz: Zampa

Australian legspinner Adam Zampa says he'll learn from the match-turning ODI over against India in which he leaked 24 runs.

Adam Zampa has vowed to learn from the over which was the catalyst for India's powerful fightback in their ODI win over Australia.

Indian allrounder Hardik Pandya dominated Zampa's leg spin, taking 23 of the 24 runs scored in the 37th over of Sunday's first ODI in Chennai where Australia went 1-0 down in the five-match series.

It was a turning point for the home side on the way to 7-281 off their 50 overs after being 5-87.

"You never like to get hit for three sixes in a row but it's probably happened to Shane Warne and guys like that too," Zampa said.

"As long as you don't put yourself under too much pressure and try to learn from those situations."

The last laugh was more of a late chuckle for Zampa after Pandya smashed 83 off 66.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old claimed his sole wicket by daring Pandya to hit a sixth maximum off a shorter length ball but only top edging to third man.

"As disappointing as it was to have an over like that off me, to get him out in the end probably did make a difference between 280 and maybe 320 or 330 as well," Zampa said.

Just before Pandya embarked on his scoring blitz, Australia captain Steve Smith hatched a plan to dismiss the Indian No. 7.

He sent James Faulkner to field inside the circle directly behind the bowler, a tactic Smith has used while captaining Zampa at the Rising Pune Supergiants.

"We had a bit of success in the IPL with it," Zampa said.

"It would have been nice if it had have come off with 20 or 30 runs less off my bowling."

Pandya hit the first ball down the ground for four, narrowly avoiding Faulkner, before thrashing the next three deliveries for six.

"I probably bowled three balls that were just too full and as soon as you miss to a player like Hardik it's going to go the distance," Zampa said.

"I just put it down to poor execution from me."
