Far north Queensland MP Billy Gordon is quietly confident he will be cleared of domestic violence allegations against him.

Police have ended their investigation into the allegations but are seeking legal advice before releasing any details.

Mr Gordon was referred to police by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in a letter to Commissioner Ian Stewart in late March after allegations surfaced from a former partner.

The former Labor MP turned independent has always denied any wrongdoing.

He expects no charges will be laid against him.

"We're quietly confident," the Cook MP told ABC radio on Thursday.

"But obviously the police have to follow their processes."
