Boom Wests Tigers halfback Luke Brooks says he isn't yet ready for a call-up to the NSW State of Origin side despite Coach Laurie Daley's selection blues.

Brooks goes head-to-head with former Blues playmaker and Sydney Roosters halfback Mitchell Pearce in round nine of the NRL at Allianz Stadium on Friday night in a match-up that could have a bearing on the NSW halves pairing for Origin I on May 27.

However Brooks, who was selected to play for City last weekend before pulling out through injury, says he it is still a couple of NRL seasons before he should be considered for higher honours.

"I don't think I'm in the mix," said Brooks, who made his NRL debut in 2013 and has played 30 matches.

"I'm not really thinking about Origin, I am pretty far away from that.

"I am just concentrating on playing good footy for the Tigers and being consistent.

"Origin is a different ball game, I am still learning my way around the NRL, so I don't think I am anywhere near that at the moment, but hopefully I can get there."

Brooks did feature in the All Stars fixture at the beginning of the season, and says he sought out Pearce, who could be recalled to the NSW side this year after an absence from Origin last season, for advice.

" I played with him in the All Stars, he is a good bloke I learnt a lot of things off him in that camp," Brooks said

"We had a few talks he obviously came up as a young bloke and he was put into Origin early so he knows what it is like to come into all the pressure put on him

"It was good to have a talk with him about that.
