Improving health care delivery in conflict zones

A new project is being developed to improve the security of medical staff and the delivery of health care in conflict zones.

International aid workers are developing a new project aimed at improving the security of medical staff and the delivery of health care in conflict zones.

The project, set up by by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, aims to deliver strategies for authorities, weapon-bearers and health providers.

These include things like the physical protection of medical facilities and fast-tracking ambulances at checkpoints.

Pierre Gentile is from the Red Cross and heads the project known as Health Care in Danger.

He has told Zara Zaher about the difficulties faced by both local and international staff in violence-stricken areas.
