Independent MP Cathy McGowan has agreed with Labor on amendments to asylum-seeker medical transfer laws.

A deal to make it easier to get asylum seekers to Australia for medical treatment appears closer to passing parliament with a key independent pledging support.

Indi MP Cathy McGowan has agreed with Labor and crossbench colleagues on amendments to allow for medical transfers from offshore detention.

"I intend to support this negotiated position when the legislation and amendments come to the House," Ms McGowan said in a statement on Tuesday.
