India says it's hopeful for the swift return of alleged stolen artefacts surrendered to the Australian government.
One statue has been surrendered by the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, and the other by the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Both were allegedly stolen, and sold by an art dealer who is now facing charges in India.
Tarun Kumar is the secretary for culture from the Indian High Commission of India in Canberra.
He explained the situation to Abby Dinham.
