At least 34 people have been killed and dozens more injured in India in a powerful earthquake that struck neighbouring Nepal.

At least 23 people were killed in the eastern state of Bihar in the seven districts that share a border with Nepal, the Home Ministry statement said.

Eight people were killed in Uttar Pradesh state. House and wall collapses killed three in West Bengal state.

Dozens in India were also injured in Saturday's magnitude-7.8 quake.
