India rout South Africa for 118 in ODI

India's spinners embarrassed South Africa in the second ODI in Centurion, the Proteas dismissed for 118 in 32.2 overs - their lowest-ever total at home.

India's spinners ran through South Africa in the second one-day international on Sunday as the Proteas were bowled out for just 118 in 32.2 overs, their lowest ever ODI total at home.

Wrist spinners Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav shared eight wickets to embarrass South Africa and put India on course for a 2-0 lead in the six-game series.

Chahal took 5-22 and Kuldeep 3-20 and South Africa slumped to their eighth-lowest one-day score.

South Africa had no answer to the two slow bowlers at SuperSport Park, with the top-ranked team in ODIs losing 9-67 and their last six for 19 runs.

Hashim Amla was the first to go and the only top-order batsman to fall to pace when he was caught behind off Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 23.

Kuldeep and Chahal then combined to remove the rest of the specialist batsmen, with Quinton de Kock (20) hitting a pull off Chahal straight to Hardik Pandya at midwicket to start a run of three wickets for no runs.

Stand-in captain Aiden Markram made a similar error when he holed out off Kuldeep one ball later. David Miller was out for a duck, undone by a turner from Kuldeep to be caught at slip later the same over.

Without captain Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers, who were both out with injury, South Africa's batting was fragile.

JP Duminy and Khaya Zondo, who was on debut, both made 25 and put on a 48-run partnership for brief respite for the Proteas.

Chahal returned to get both those men out in the space of two overs and the South African tail folded.

Chahal had Chris Morris caught at deep cover for his fifth, returning the best figures ever for an Indian spinner in an ODI game in South Africa.
