India win toss and choose to field

India have sent New Zealand in to bat after winning the toss in the first cricket Test at Eden Park in Auckland.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni has won the toss and chosen to bowl in the opening match of the two-Test cricket series against New Zealand.

The toss result continues Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum's recent run of outs with the flip of the coin.

He lost all five against the tourists in the one-day series, which New Zealand won 4-0 with one tie.

McCullum's toss record in Tests is now five successes in 14.

Bad light at a murky Eden Park delayed the toss by 15 minutes.

Both teams have named unchanged line-ups from their respective last Test matches.

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni (captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami.

New Zealand: Peter Fulton, Hamish Rutherford, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum (captain), Corey Anderson, BJ Watling, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Neil Wagner, Trent Boult.
