India wrap up ODI prep with a second win

India have beaten a WA XI for the second time in two days as they finalise preparation for the five-match one-day series with Australia.

India have cruised to back-to-back wins over a WA XI at the WACA Ground in preparation for the one-day series against Australia.

Having prevailed by 74 runs in a Twenty20 tour match on Friday, India backed it up with a 64-run win in a 50-over hit out in which they were all out for 249 on Saturday.

Their batsmen would be happy with the time spent in the middle across the two days ahead of the first of five one-day matches with Australia at the WACA on Tuesday.

After Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli scored 74 each in Friday's win, it was up to Rohit Sharma (67 off 82), Manish Pandey (58 off 59) and Ajinkya Rahane (41 off 53) to take the spotlight on Saturday.

Experienced spinners Ravi Ashwin (2-32) and Ravindra Jadeja (2-38) were particularly effective in restricting the home side to 185.

The hosts were led by Drew Porter (5-37) with the ball and Jaron Morgan (50 from 66) with the bat.

India did have a hiccup, though, with a hamstring injury to Mohammed Shami resulting in the key paceman being sent home.

Veteran seamer Ishant Sharma also didn't bowl across the two games leaving him an unlikely starter on Tuesday.

India bowling coach Bharat Arun believes the two matches were the perfect preparation for Tuesday's series opener.

"The idea of playing practice games and the fact that we are playing on the same ground gives us an advantage," Arun said.

"Although we have played a lot of cricket in Australia very recently, coming back after spending a lot of time on the sub-continent straight away getting used to the ground we are going to play I think is an advantage."
